WESTFIELD, CT – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team opens the 2024-25 season with games on Friday and Saturday at the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Classic hosted by Westfield State University.

The Cardinals face Eastern Connecticut State at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. They will play Westfield State or St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Saturday at noon (consolation game) or 2 p.m. (championship game).

The Cardinals went 18-9 overall (13-3 Empire 8) and reached the conference semifinals last season.
This season, the Cardinals will have to replace the scoring production of three-time All-American and four-time Empire 8 Player of the Year Daniel Cook, who averaged nearly 20 points over four years. Cook ranks second in Fisher history in points scored (1,932) and first in points per game (19.9).
Top Returners
Connor Williams, senior forward: Williams, 7-foot-0, 360 pounds, averaged nearly six points while coming off the bench in 28 games last season. He shot 40% from 3-point range and 58.8% overall.
Cole Thompson, senior guard: Thompson appeared in 27 games and made 17 starts last season. He scored a season-best 12 points against Lebannon Valley while shooting 4 of 6 overall and 3 of 3 from 3-point range.
Max Schneider, senior guard: Schneider came off the bench in 27 games last season and dished out 44 assists, the third most on the team. He scored a season-high 11 points while shooting 4 of 7 from the field and 3 of 3 from 3-point range againts Nazareth.
