ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team rode a strong start to a 71-62 victory over the University of Rochester on Thursday night to start the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at RIT's Clark Memorial Gymnasium.
The Cardinals won their second straight game and improved to 4-3 overall, while the Yellowjackets fell to 3-2. Fisher has won three of its last four games against Rochester.

The Cardinals led by nine at halftime and held a double-digit advantage for much of the second half. Their largest lead was 17 points.

Senior guard Sidney Tomasso once again led Fisher offensively, scoring 19 points while shooting 7 of 17 overall, 3 of 7 from three and 2 of 2 from the free-throw line. She also pulled down seven rebounds and had two steals.

Tomasso has scored more than 15 points in each of the six games she's played in this season.

Junior guard Presleigh Brunner scored 16 points and shot 7 of 10. She made both of her foul shots.

Senior guard Katie Moravec scored 15 points while shooting 5 of 11 overall (1 of 2 from three) and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. She also had four assists, a team-high.

The Cardinals connected on eight three-point shots, the second most they've made in a game this season. Rochester shot 3 of 12 from beyond the arch.

The Cardinals made 11 of 12 free throws while Rochester made just five.
