ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team dropped its second straight game on Thursday night, falling 83-70 to the University of Rochester in the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at the Louis Alexander Palestra. The Cardinals dipped to 1-3, while Rochester improved to 4-1 and won its fourth straight game.
Senior guard Max Schneider scored a career-high 17 points while shooting 6 of 12 overall, 4 of 8 from 3-point range and 1 of 2 from the free-throw line. He also dished out a season-high six assists and pulled down four rebounds.
Guards Giovanni Schillaci and senior Cole Thompson also reached double figures for the Cardinals. Schillaci, a sophomore, scored 12 points and knocked down four triples, while Thompson had 13 points on 3 of 7 shooting. The senior went 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and 4 of 4 from the foul line.
The free-throw line had a significant role in the outcome. Fisher missed a season-high seven shots from the stripe (11 of 18), while Rochester made nearly 80% of its shots (19 of 24).
Logan Jagodzinski scored a game-high 21 points and made 5 of 6 free throws. Ethan McEachern also went 5 of 6 from the line.
