GENEVA, N.Y. — Senior forwards Connor Williams and Eric Kegler set career highs in points, but the St. John Fisher University men's basketball team fell 68-63 to Hobart College on Wednesday night at Bristol Gym.
The Cardinals (1-2) pulled within one point of the Statesmen (1-1) in the second half after trailing by 10 at halftime. Hobart responded with a six-point run and maintained a five- to seven-point lead the rest of the way.
Williams shot 8 of 12 (66%) from the field and 7 of 8 from the foul line en route to a game-high 23 points. The 7-foot forward also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds as part of his second career double-double.
Kegler, who's scored at least 16 points in each of the Cardinals' three games so far this season, put up 18 points on 3 of 8 shooting. He made 11 of 12 shots from the three-throw line, also a career high.
Aidan Rodgers led Hobart with 19 points while shooting 6 of 10 from the field. Carter Meshanic had 13, and Alex Moesch scored 10.
The Statesmen scored 20 points off 16 Fisher turnovers. They shot nearly 60% overall and 50% from three-point range in the first half as they built a double-digit lead.
