Men's Soccer Falls To Russell Sage

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Russell Sage Gators (6-5, 3-2-0 Empire 8) beat the St. John Fisher University men's soccer team (3-4-4, 2-1-2 Empire 8) 2-1 Saturday evening at Growney Stadium. 

Match Notes

  • About 10 minutes after Alejandro Aleo gave Russell Sage a 1-0 lead in the middle of the first half, Cardinals junior forward Jack Tamburino tied the game on a spectacular assist from senior midfielder Jacob McGinnis

  • Tamburino has scored goals in back-to-back games. He has a career-high three goals this season. 

  • McGinnis recorded his first assist of the season. 

  • El Hadji Iba Sy broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half. Aleo got credit for the assist on the game-winning tally. 

  • Fisher goalkeeper Christian Burkhart made four saves in the contest. He's currently third in the Empire 8 with 39 saves.
