Field Hockey Beats Houghton 3-2

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Taylor Scrocca scored twice in the St. John Fisher University field hockey team's 3-2 victory over Houghton University at Growney Stadium on Saturday. 

The Cardinals (5-6), winners of two straight games, improved to 3-0 in the Empire 8. One of three E8 teams without a loss in league play, they stand just behind Brockport (4-0 E8) and Geneseo (4-0 E8) in the conference standings. 

Match Notes

  • The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring all three of their goals in the first half before having to hold on in the second. Houghton scored both of its goals in the second half. 

  • Scrocca, who scored Fisher's first two goals, recorded her fifth career multi-goal game and first since last October against Elmira. 

  • Scrocca has scored three goals in Fisher's last two games, bringing her season total to four. She has 16 career goals. 

  • Senior forward Emma Cooper scored the Cardinals' third goal early in the second quarter. She's scored in back-to-back games. 

  • Cooper, who has five goals this season, has scored in four of the Cardinals' last six contests. She has 11 total points in that span. 

  • Senior forward Molly Fisher (1) and sophomore midfielder Mary Kate McPhee (1) tallied assists. 

  • McPhee has four points in the Cardinals' last two games. 

  • Fisher has tallied nine points in Fisher's last four contests. 

  • Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Parrinello recorded her second straight win in net. She made three saves.
