Women's Volleyball Finishes Utica Trip With Another Sweep

UTICA, N.Y. – Junior setter Reilly Morrow cracked the top-10 on the St. John Fisher women's volleyball program's all-time assists list as the Cardinals swept SUNY Poly to complete their weekend road trip on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Fieldhouse. 

The Cardinals (14-8, 7-2 Empire 8) moved into a tie for second place with Hartwick and Houghton in the conference standings. They have four contests remaining in the regular season, including two Empire 8 matches. 

Match Notes

  • Morrow recorded 23 assists against Poly to move her career total to 1,520. She passed Bridget Martin (1989-1992) for 10th in program history. 

  • The Cardinals won the first set 25-6, the second 25-9 and the third 25-18. They have swept Poly five times in a row. 

  • The Cardinals have swept seven of their opponents this season. They have five sweeps in Empire 8 play. 

  • Freshman Adeline Phillips recorded a career- and match-high 11 kills. She logged a career-high .526 hitting percentage. 

  • Phillips also set career highs in points (13.5) and service aces (2). 

  • Sophomores Ana Gutman and Emma Lawler each had six kills in the match. 

  • Gutman, who had six kills on seven attack attempts, led the team with a scorching .857 hitting percentage. Lawler set a career-high with a .625 hitting percentage. 

  • Gutman has hit .400 or better in 10 of Fisher's 22 total matches this season. She leads the Empire 8 with a .373 hitting percentage. 

  • The Cardinals as a team hit .419, their highest collective hitting percentage of the season. 

  • The Cardinals had 42 kills to Poly's 14. They also finished the match with a 10-2 edge in service aces. 

  • Junior libero Kiera Hartpence led the Cardinals with four service aces, one shy of her season high.
