CORTLAND, N.Y. – The No. 2 SUNY Cortland football team remained undefeated on Saturday, beating the St. John Fisher University Cardinals 49-0 at Grady Field.

The Cardinals, who'd won back-to-back games, dropped to 3-4 overall (2-2 Empire 8). The Red Dragons (7-0, 5-0 Empire 8) – the defending Division III national champions – have won five consecutive games against Fisher.

One of the top quarterbacks in Division III, Cortland senior Zac Boyes completed 20 of 25 passes and set season highs in passing yards (373) and passing touchdowns (4). Wide receiver Jaden Alfano-St. John caught seven passes for 160 yards and two scores.

The Red Dragons amassed 111 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as a team. Running back Ethan Gallo rushed for 42 yards and a score on 12 attempts, while Boyes rushed three times for 15 yards and a touchdown. Alfano-St. John took his lone rushing attempt for a 44-yard touchdown on the game's third play from scrimmage.

St. John Fisher middle linebacker Joe Miscia led the Cardinals with a season-high 12 tackles. The fifth-year senior, who has 384 stops over 37 games since 2021, passed Todd Lexer (382 tackles from 1989-93) for second in program history in career tackles.
