PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team has announced its 2024 schedule as the Cardinals look to make the NCAA Tournament again after last season's second-round exit. The team went 10-10 in 2023 but had an undefeated 7-0 year in the Empire 8. Last season's schedule saw several close games with ranked opponents, and the Cardinals will again have a tough non-conference schedule with some of the top lacrosse programs in Division III.
Getting Started: The Cardinals will start with two warm-up scrimmages, hosting Division II's Roberts Wesleyan on Feb. 3 before traveling to Pennsylvania to scrimmage with Scranton on Feb. 10. Their official schedule starts on Saturday, Feb. 17, when they'll play SUNY Brockport at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor. Fisher's first home game is Wednesday, Feb. 28, against SUNY Cortland.
Lacrossin' In Memphis: St. John Fisher's spring trip this season will bring them to Memphis, Tennessee. They'll play Albion College and Rhodes College there on March 5th and 8th, respectively.
National Powers: The Cardinals will face 2023 national semifinalists RIT on Wednesday, March 20, one of three opponents on this year's regular season schedule who made the NCAA Tournament last season. The others are Geneseo (Wednesday, March 27 at Geneseo) and Union College (hosting Wednesday, April 24). The Cardinals are 3-19 against RIT and have never beaten Union, but hold a 9-5 record against Geneseo.
Empire 8 of Mind: Conference play begins Saturday, March 30, when the Cardinals host Keuka College. The annual faceoff with neighboring Nazareth University will come on Saturday, April 13 down the road at the home of the Golden Flyers. The Cardinals haven't lost a conference game since an 11-9 defeat to Stevens on April 20, 2019.
