CLAREMONT, CA—The St. John Fisher University women's volleyball team are across the country this weekend as they compete in the Pacific Coast Classic, hosted by Pomona Pitzer. The Cardinals dropped both games in the opening day of competition.
Fisher 1 – Whittier 3
The Cardinals dropped the opening set, 25-15, but bounced back in the second. An early 8-0 run, helped them claim a 10-2 advantage. Kills by

Kaylene Noble kept the scoring stretch going. Whittier fought back time and time again, but scoring runs helped keep the team in front. The team was unable to secure another victory and dropped the match 3-1.
Noble tallied 14 kills and 18 digs, and Young secured a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Haley Herrera recorded 21 assists in the game.
Fisher 0 – Pomona Pitzer 3
The Cardinals took on a Pomona Pitzer team that was receiving votes in the opening AVCA Coaches Poll. Fisher battled in the early parts of each set, but long runs by the Sagehens helped them secure victories in straight sets. Herera led the way with 15 assists and Noble led the team with nine kills.
In day two of the Pacific Coast Classic, Fisher will take on St. Catherine University on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 3:45pm ET.
