ELIZABETHTOWN, PA. – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team opened the 2023 season with a 1-0 loss at Elizabethtown College on Friday night.
Elizabethtown struck a little over five minutes into the match on a goal by Pedro Guizardi, and the Cardinals were not able to equalize.
The Cardinals were out-shot, 15-5, by the Blue Jays. Seniors Matt Gentile and Andrew Vannest had Fisher's shots on goal.
Senior Jadon Schlierf and grad student Christian Burkhart split time in goal, with Schlierf starting and saving two goals before being relieved by Burkhart, who made three.
The team returns to the pitch on Sunday, when they travel to Lebanon Valley College. Kickoff is 4:00 P.M.
