UTICA, NY – The St. John Fisher University Women's Track and Field team traveled to Utica, NY as they competed in the Utica Pioneer Fast Chance Meet.
On the Track
First on the track for the Cardinals,
Caitlin Voloshen competed in the 3000m steeplechase. Voloshen ran 11:57.94, placing first overall and qualifying for the AARTFC meet. Later in the meet, Fisher competed in the 1500m.
Lauren DeMichele ran 5:06.42, finishing fifth overall. Right behind,
Olivia Grinnell ran 5:07.60, taking sixth overall.
Sophia Prouty ran 5:33.62, finishing eighth overall. Running in the 400m, Grace Wright finished fourth overall with a time of 59.79. With her performance, G. Wright qualifies for the AARTFC meet.
Emma Wright ran 1:06.20, finishing 10
th overall. In the 400m hurdles,
Hayly Fredrickson ran 1:09.60, finishing 10
th overall. Right after,
Zhane Lettsome competed in the 200m. Lettsome ran 25.98, placing fifth overall. The 5000m saw
Riley Corey place first with a time of 18:48.13.
Brigid McGee was right behind Corey, running 18:53.67, placing second overall with a new personal best.
On the Field
Competing in the discus throw,
Makenna King threw 44.87m, placing first overall and breaking her own school record. With her performance, King moves up to second in the region and 12
th in the nation. Later in the meet, multiple Cardinals competed in the shot put. King threw 13.73m, placing first overall, collecting her second win of the day and breaking yet another school record. With her performance, King also moves up to second in the region and 17
th in the nation.
Erin McGuinness threw 11.81m, placing eighth overall. Taking ninth overall,
Lyndsay O'Brien threw 11.59m. Ending the day for the Cardinals,
Claudia Vogel competed in the javelin throw. Vogel threw 27.80m, placing fifth overall.
Up next, qualifying Cardinals will be traveling to Selinsgrove, PA as they compete in the Atlantic Regional Championship (AARTFC). The two-day event will be hosted by Susquehanna University and will be on Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18.
