UTICA, NY – The St. John Fisher Men's Track and Field team traveled to Utica, N.Y. as they competed in the Utica Pioneer Spring Invite. The meet took place on Saturday and was hosted by Utica University. As a team, the Cardinals placed third out of thirteen teams, scoring 98.5 points.
On the Track
First on the track for the Cardinals,
Kevin Havens competed in the 3000m steeplechase. Havens ran 10:21.79 to place second overall. Haven's performance qualifies him for the Empire 8 (E8) Championship.
Next on the track, multiple Cardinals competed in the 4x100m. The team of
Curtis Cuvilly,
Cole Ferris,
Trenton Wynn, and
Brady Bishop ran 43.77 to place third overall.
Shortly after, Fisher competed in the 1500m. Tony DiRubbo ran 4:12.50, taking sixth overall. Not far behind,
Ethan Billings ran 4:13.90 to take eighth overall.
Riley Nash was next, taking ninth place with a time of 4:17.60. All three Cardinals ran E8 qualifying times.
In the 110m hurdles, Luke Defio ran 17.82 to take fifth overall. Right behind,
Josiah Bowers ran 17.98 to take sixth overall. Both Defio and Bowers ran E8 Championship qualifying times. Taking tenth for the Cardinals,
Maxwell Blowers ran 19.49.
Competing in the 400m, Bishop ran 52.33 to take fifth overall. Not far behind, Rob Hartigan ran 52.99 to take sixth overall. Both runners ran E8 Championship qualifying times.
In the 100m, Cuvilly ran 11.40 to take seventh overall. Not far behind, Wynn ran 11.43 to take eighth overall. Both runners qualified for the E8 Championship.
Next on the track, multiple Cardinals competed in the 800m.
Myles Andersen ran 2:01.45, placing fifth overall. Not far behind, peter Briggs ran 2:01.69, placing sixth overall.
Dylan Esquivel ran 2:04.36, placing 12
th overall. In 17
th place,
Jason Kincaid ran 2:06.59. All four runners ran E8 qualifying times.
Right after, Fisher competed in the 400m hurdles.
Mathieu Acquard ran 1:02.83, placing sixth overall. Not far behind, Defio ran 1:03.10, placing seventh overall and qualifying for the E8 Championship.
In the 200m, Ferris ran 23.28, placing fifth overall.
Next on the track,
Bogdan Rozvora competed in the 5000m. Rozvora ran 16:37.45 to place 11
th overall and qualify for the E8 Championship.
Ending the day on the track, multiple Cardinals competed in the 4x400m relay. The team of Briggs, Andersen, Ferris, and Acquard ran 3:34.82 to place second overall. With this performance the team moves up to second on the conference leader board.
On the Field
First on the field, multiple Cardinals competed in the hammer throw.
Jack Bickford threw 45.06m to take third overall. Close to Bickford,
Brandon Kaplan threw 44.76m, taking fourth overall.
Keegan Reyome threw 34.91, placing tenth overall.
Gavin Grinnell placed 13
th overall, throwing 33.05m.
Bryce Grove threw 32.78m, placing 14
th overall. All five throwers threw E8 Championship qualifying marks.
Next up, multiple Cardinals competed in the high jump. Bryan DePaull took first overall, jumping 1.95m and moving him up to first in the conference. In third place,
Sean Cochrane jumped 1.85m.
Kuyler Coffin took tenth overall, jumping 1.70m and qualifying for the E8 Championship.
In the pole vault,
Adam Palmer jumped 3.35m to tie for fourth overall and qualify for the E8 Championship.
Josiah Bowers jumped 3.05m, taking sixth overall. In seventh place, Zach Piper jumped 2.75m.
Competing next, were multiple Cardinals in the shot put.
Ashton Glasser threw 11.94m, placing eighth overall.
Sean Cochrane was next, throwing 11.48m to place 11
th overall. In 15
th place,
Daniel Stephens threw 10.68m.
Joey Curr threw 10.36m, placing 16
th overall. All four throwers threw E8 Championship qualifying marks.
Ending the day on the field, Fisher competed in the discus throw. Grove threw 37.82m, placing seventh overall.
Grinnell placed 17
th overall, throwing 31.61m. Not far behind, Bowers threw 30.31m, placing 21
st. In 23
rd,
Cole Fuller threw 30.18m. Bowers and Fuller both threw E8 Championship qualifying times.
Next up, Fisher will be competing in two separate meets. On Saturday, Apr. 15, some Cardinals will be travelling to Brockport, NY, as they compete in the SUNY Brockport – Brockport Invite. On Saturday, Apr. 15 and Sunday, Apr. 16, the rest of the Cardinals will be travelling to Lewisburg, PA, as they compete in the Bucknell University – Bison Outdoor Classic.
