PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University baseball team stayed home as they hosted Ithaca College at Dugan Yard. After nine innings, the Cardinals fell 15-10. After today's results, Fisher moves to an overall record of 15-10 on the year and remain 9-0 in Empire 8 play.
Fisher got their first run in the bottom of the second, with
Andrew Roman walking,
Brian Norsen advancing home. Fisher's next runs of the game came in the bottom of the fourth, with
Ben Lavery homering to left field, bringing home
Dominic Guccia. Later in the inning,
Noah Campanelli doubled to right field, bringing home
Tanner Hodgson, cutting the score to 7-4.
Keeping up the scoring in the bottom of the fifth, Guccia singled, with
James Murphy scoring. Two batters later, Lavery hit another homerun, with Guccia scoring, Fisher now trailed 10-7. In the bottom of the eighth, Campanelli hit a homerun, shortly followed by Murphy hitting a homerun. In the final of the ninth, Campanelli singled to left field, with
Jake Crantz scoring, the game ending with Fisher losing 10-15
Starting for the Cardinals,
Anthony Lang pitched 0.2 innings, facing nine batters, striking out two and giving up four runs. Throughout the rest of the game, Fisher had five other pitchers, combining for four strikeouts.
Next up, the Cardinals stay home as they host SUNY Oswego at Dugan Yard. The game will take place on Friday, Apr. 14, with the game set to start at 3:00 pm.
