MARSHALL, TX – The St. John Fisher University softball team continued their spring trip in Texas with a double-header against East Texas Baptist (TX). The Cardinals fell in game one, losing 5-0. In the second game, Fisher lost, 10-2. After today's results, Fisher now holds a record of 5-3 on the year.
Game One: Loss, 5-0
In a tough first game, East Texas Baptist came out swinging in the first, scoring two runs from two hits. They continued their scoring throughout the next few innings, with Fisher picking up their first hits of the day in the top of the sixth inning, with
Maddie Donlin hitting a single. The Cardinals picked up their second hit of the day in the seventh inning, with
Mari Spitz hitting a single into center field. However, that was not enough, as the Cardinals fell, 5-0.
Game Two: Loss, 10-2
The second game began with
Allie Klonowski singling to center field, followed by East Texas Baptist picking up a run in the bottom of the first. The Cardinal's collected their first run in the third inning, thanks to
Madi Rose scoring, after hitting a single earlier in the inning. The inning ended with the Tigers leading, 5-1. The fourth inning had
Clare Boegel singling to shortstop, with the Tigers scoring three more runs. In the fifth inning, Rose scored after Spitz singled up the middle. The game ended with the Cardinals falling, 2-10.
Up next for the Cardinals is a double-header against SUNY Oneonta. The games take place on Saturday, Mar. 11., with game one starting at 3pm and game two scheduled for 5pm.
