Softball Win Two Against SUNY Oneonta

MARSHALL, TX - The St. John Fisher University softball team wrapped up their spring trip with a double-header against SUNY Oneonta. The Cardinals won in the first game, 5-1. In the second game, Fisher won 9-0, thanks to a seven-run second inning. After today's results, Fisher now holds a record of 7-3 on the year.

Game One: Win, 5-1
The Cardinals started the first inning strong, collecting three runs, with Amalia DeMartino, Cassidy Evanetski, and Mari Spitz all scoring thanks to multiple walks. Fisher's next run came in the top of the third inning, with Allie Klonowski scoring. Oneonta scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth, with the Cardinals leading 4-1. In the top of the fifth, Kelly Cournoyer singled up the middle, collecting an RBI as Liv Godley scored. The game ended with the Cardinals winning 5-1.

Jess Patterson continues to roll, improving to 3-1 on the season after pitching 7.0 strong innings, allowing five hits, a walk and a run, while striking out nine. The complete game effort marks her first since last season, when the Rensselaer native was dealt a loss to Alfred after allowing three earned.

Game Two: Win, 9-0
The Cardinals carried their momentum into game two, with Madi Rose and DeMartino scoring in the first inning. In the second inning, Fisher scored seven runs, highlighted by Klonowski hitting a double and collecting two RBIs. The nine runs of support would be plenty for Cassidy Ormond, who improved to a 2-0 record after pitching 4.0 innings and scattering four hits, walking two and striking out six. The four scoreless work lowers the sophomores season ERA to 1.53.

Up next for the Cardinals is a double-header against the University of Rochester. The first game is scheduled for a 3pm first pitch.
