PITTSFORD, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher men's lacrosse team start off their spring break in Newport News, VA. They are set to compete against No. 4 Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, March 8th at 4pm. They will then travel up to Sparks, MD and compete against Muhlenberg College at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters.
Last Match Ups
This will be the first time in program history the Cardinals will face-off against both teams. Christopher Newport will be Fisher's first ranked opponent of the season. The Captains head into the week with a 4-0 overall record, getting a top 20 ranked win over Stevenson University on Feb. 25th. The Mule's hold a record of 2-2, falling just short to RIT in their first game of the season, 10-9 in 3 OTs. Fisher heads into the week looking to secure their first win of the 2023 season and secure their first program win against both teams.
Players to Watch
During the Cardinals first game of the season, attack man, Brady Mason led the team in goals, finishing with three goals on five shots on goal. Midfielder, Griffin Dautrich recorded one goal and one assists to help lead on the offensive side of the field. LSM Zach Miltrano led the team in ground balls, recording five on the night. Connor Mesh led the team in caused turnovers with two and added one ground ball. The Cardinals face-off unit excelled and went 12-for-20, going 60% on the night, this is one of the strongest showing the Cardinals had during there first match up.
