Baseball Falls to Aurora University

AUBURNDALE, FL – The St. John Fisher University men's baseball team (1-3) opened their road trip with a tough loss against Aurora University (2-0).

The Spartans took control of the contest early, using a grand slam to back a five-run first. Aurora used three hits, a walk, and error to back their five run outburst, eventually stranding two runners on.

Aurora would plate another with an sacrifice fly in the top of the third, bringing the score to 6-0. The Cardinals would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth on the a RF Ben Lavery (1) home run, but the Spartans offense would continue the onslaught in the top of the fifth, adding four more on five hits, ending the line for P Connor McHugh (1-1), who lasted 4.2 innings. McHugh allowed nine runs (eight earned), walking four and striking out a pair.

The score would remain there until a solo home run in the top of the seventh pushed the Spartans lead to 10, up 11-1.

The offense of the Cardinals could not get going, as they finished with just three hits, two of which came off the bat of Lavery.

The Cardinals will look to snap their three-game skid against St. Joseph's College of Maine on Monday morning, with first pitch salted for 9 a.m. at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, FL.
