Cardinals Fall Against Yellowjackets

ROCHESTER, NY – The St. John Fisher University baseball team traveled to Rochester, N.Y., as they took on the University of Rochester. After the two teams went back and forth with scoring, the Cardinals went on to fall 16-13. After today's result, Fisher moves to an overall record of 7-10 on the year and 3-0 in Empire 8 play.
 
Offense was kicked off in the second inning. Jake Crantz started the day for the Cardinals, singling to right field, bringing in Dominic Guccia. Not long after, Andrew Roman doubled down the infield line, with Crantz scoring. The Cardinals carried their momentum into the third inning, with Noah Pohrte scoring on an error. Right after, Guccia singled to center field, with Brian Norsen scoring. Shortly after, Ben Lavery homered to right center, bringing home Guccia, the score 6-1.
 
In the fourth inning, James Murphy flied out to center field, bringing in Noah Campanelli. Later in the inning, Crantz singled up the middle, with Norsen scoring. Shortly after, Guccia scored on an error, the score 9-2. The Cardinals kept the scoring going in the fifth inning, scoring four runs, with Murphy doubling to left field and bringing home Campanelli. Immediately after, Norsen homered to left center, collecting three RBIs, Fisher leading 13-5. In the fifth inning, the Yellowjackets scored three runs, followed by four in the seventh and four in the eighth, with Fisher falling `16-13.

Anthony Lang started for the Cardinals, pitching the first two innings, striking out one batter. Fisher had six more pitchers throughout the game, with none pitching more than two innings.
 
Next up, the Cardinals return home as they host a double header against Keuka College. The games will take place at Dugan Yard on Saturday, Apr. 1, with the first game beginning at 12:00 p.m.
