Cardinals Sweep Medaille After Game Three Victory

BUFFALO, NY – The St. John Fisher University baseball team traveled to Buffalo, N.Y., as they played game three of a three game series away against Medaille University. After scoring three runs in the first inning, the Cardinals went on to win the game 12-0. After today's result, Fisher moves to an overall record of 7-9 on the year and 3-0 in Empire 8 play.
 
The Cardinals started the first inning scoring three runs. Hitting first, Noah Campanelli homered to left field. Shortly after, Dominic Guccia later singled to left field, bringing in Ben Lavery, who drew a walk earlier in the inning. Right after, Jake Crantz singled to center field, with Brian Norsen scoring. In the top of the second, Campanelli grounded out, with Jack Migliore scoring after getting on base and stealing a pair of bases. Later in the inning after a trio of walks, Guccia singled to center field, collecting two RBIs, pushing the Fisher lead to 6-0.
 
After adding a run in the fourth, the sixth inning started with a walk by Lavery and a two-run homerun by Norsen. Later in the inning, Luke Duffy was hit by a pitch, with Crantz advancing to score. Right after, James Murphy was walked, with Jake Meeker advancing to score. In the seventh inning, Guccia scored on a wild pitch. The game ended after seven innings, with the Cardinals winning 12-0.
 
Starting for Fisher, Benjamin Huckans pitched 5.0 innings. Huckans faced 17 batters, giving up three hits and striking out four batters. Jason Wall closed the final two innings, facing eight batters, striking out two batters.
 
Next up, the Cardinals travel back to Rochester to take on the University of Rochester. The game will take place on Monday, Mar. 29, and will begin at 2:30 p.m.
