ROCHESTER, NY – The St. John Fisher University softball team (7-3) will look to use their momentum to push past the University of Rochester Yellowjackets (7-5) when the Cardinals will be the visiting team in a midweek double-header. First pitch is slated to be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22.
Scouting the Yellowjackets
The Cardinals have dropped four straight to the Yellowjackets, with their last win coming in a 3-1 contest on April 28, 2021. The current four game skid is the longest losing streak between the two teams, dating back to 2006.
The Yellowjackets have gone 7-5 this season, and are coming off a visit to Kissimmee, Florida, where they posted a 6-2 record, having won their last four.
Season Stat to Watch
Allie Klonowski has a career 0.410 batting average, which puts her in third place all-time, behind Katie Mazierski, who hit 0.417 (2015-18) and Danielle Guccia, who also clipped .417 (1997-00). Klonowski has opened the season hitting 0.333, and expect a competitive season from the senior, who has never finished a season hitting below 0.400.
Player to Watch
Cassidy Evanetski is the player of the week to watch after hitting 0.320 with six RBIs to open the season. Evanetski tallied a three RBI performance in the season opener at Centenary College, going 2-4. Evanetski has recorded three walks and six strikeouts across 25 at bats.
This is a stark contrast to the last season, when Evanetski finished with a 0.097 batting average across 15 games last season, ending with just one home run and two RBI's on the campaign.
Evanetski has raised her career SLG% to 0.304 with a 0.303 OBP%.
