BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher Men's Track and Field team traveled to SUNY Brockport to compete in the Brockport – Multi Invite. The meet took place on Friday and Saturday and was hosted by SUNY Brockport. As a team, the men placed 10th out of 17 teams.
Heptathlon
Friday started with
Josiah Bowers,
Maxwell Blowers, and Zach Piper competing in the Heptathlon. Bowers finished 8
th, scoring 3621 points. Bowers highlight came from the shot put, where he placed 3
rd, throwing 11.13m. Blowers finished 9
th, scoring 3499 points. Blowers ran 10.10 in the 60m hurdles to place 8
th. Piper finished 11
th, scoring 3174 points. Piper ran 3:00.47 in the 1000m, placing 7
th. All three runners qualified for the Empire 8 Championship meet.
On the Track
Saturday started with
Trenton Wynn placing 6
th in the qualifying rounds of the 60m hurdles, with a time of 9.02. In the finals, Wynn placed 3
rd overall, running 8.68 to qualify for the AARTFC meet.
The 60m saw
Curtis Cuvilly and Wynn qualify for the finals, with Cuvilly placing 4
th in a time of 7.18 and Wynn running 7.29 to qualify in 8
th place. Matthew Satsiw also had a strong race, running 7.35 to qualify for the Empire 8 Championship meet. In the final, Cuvilly ran 7.21 to place 5
th overall, and Wynn ran 7.25 to place 8
th.
In the mile,
Ethan Billings ran 4:30.96 to place 6
th, moving him to third on the Empire 8 leaderboard.
Reid Hooker ran 4:50.51 to qualify for the E8 Championship meet.
In the 400m,
Peter Briggs ran 55.11 to qualify for the E8 Championship meet.
The 800m saw
Dylan Esquivel run 2:06.80, qualifying him for the E8 championship meet.
In the 200m,
Cole Ferris ran 23.37, moving him up to fifth on the E8 leaderboard.
The 3000m saw
Kevin Havens run 9:39.35, qualifying him for the E8 championship meet.
Ending the day, the Cardinals placed 10
th in the 4x400m, running 3:47.25. The team consisted of
Myles Andersen, Tony DiRubbo, Hooker, and Joshua Sandoval.
In the Field
In the high jump,
Kuyler Coffin jumped 1.76m, moving him up to eighth on the E8 leaderboard.
The long jump saw
Bryant DePaull jump 6.41m, qualifying him for the E8 Championship meet and putting him fourth on the E8 leaderboard.
Jack Bickford threw 13.90m, in the weight throw, placing 10
th overall and moving him up to seventh on the E8 leaderboard.
Next up for the Cardinals, are two meets. Some athletes will be travelling to Boston, MA to compete in the Valentine Classic Invite, hosted by Boston University. The meet will be on Feb. 10-11. Other athletes will be staying local, competing in the RIT Invite on Friday, Feb. 10.
