PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher Women's Track and Field team traveled to Nazareth College to compete in day two of the Empire 8 Championship. After the completion of day two, the Cardinals placed 2
nd overall, with 146.5 points.
On the Track
Starting out for the Cardinals,
Ciarra Franz competed in the final round of the 60m hurdles. In the final round, Franz placed 1
st overall, running 8.97 to claim the meet record.
Next up, five Cardinals competed in the final round of the 60m.
Samantha Shea narrowly took 2
nd overall, running 7.819, just 0.005 seconds behind first. Franz continued her stellar day into a 3
rd place finish, running 7.83.
Zhane Lettsome took 4
th, running 7.94. In 6
th place,
Michaela Kurbs ran 8.06.
Isabelle Rowley claimed 7
th place with a time of 8.19.
In the 800m,
Emma Wright finished 8
th overall, running 2:30.51.
Shortly after, multiple Cardinals competed in the 200m. Shea took 3
rd overall, running 26.15. Not far behind, Lettsome took 4
th overall with a time of 26.42. Grace Wright finished in 5
th, after running 26.65. Rowley took 6
th overall, running 27.27.
In the 3000m,
Riley Corey took 4
th place with a time of 10:51.32. Not far behind,
Caitlin Voloshen finished 5
th overall with a time of 10:53.26.
Laura Witt finished 7
th, running 10:58.76.
Ending the day for the Cardinals, was the 4x400m relay. The team of G. Wright, E. Wright,
Brenda Le, and Shea placed 1
st with a meet record of 4:02.83.
On the Field
First on the field,
Makenna King competed in the weight throw. King threw 13.08m to take 3
rd overall.
Next up, Kurbs competed in the triple jump, where she took 2
nd overall with a jump of 10.97m.
In the high jump,
Claudia Vogel tied for 6
th overall, jumping 1.43m.
Next up for the Cardinals is the AARTFC Indoor Championship. The Championship will take place on Friday, Mar. 3., and Saturday, Mar. 4., taking place at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.
