Men’s Track & Field Place Third in Empire 8 Championship

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher Men's Track and Field team traveled to Nazareth College to compete in day two of the Empire 8 Championship. After the completion of day two, the Cardinals placed 3rd overall, with 104 points.

On the Track
Competing in the final round of the 60m hurdles were Trenton Wynn and John Ruggio. Wynn placed 2nd overall, running 8.60. Ruggio took 5th place, after running 8.81.

Shortly after, three Cardinals competed in the final round of the 60m. Curtis Cuvilly took 1st overall, finishing in 7.16. Wynn continued a strong day into the 60m, finishing 5th with a time of 7.254, narrowly missing fourth by 0.002 seconds. Brady Bishop finished in 7th, running 7.32.

In the 800m, Myles Andersen finished in 4th, running 2:00.59. Not far behind, Peter Briggs finished in 5th, running 2:00.96. Tony DiRubbo took 8th place, running 2:03.52.

Next up, Bishop finished 3rd overall in the 200m, running 23.04. Cole Ferris took 7th overall, running 23.39.

In the 3000m, Ethan Billings finished 5th, running 9:01.68.

Ending the day, the team of Bishop, Rob Hartigan, Andersen, and Ferris ran the 4x400m relay. The team placed 3rd overall, running 3:29.63.

On the Field
Starting on the field, the Cardinals competed in the high jump. Sean Cochrane and Bryant DePaull tied for 2nd overall, both jumping 1.97m.

Next up, in the weight throw, Jack Bickford threw 14.36m, earning him a 4th place finish. Brandon Kaplan threw 13.88m, taking 6th overall.

Ending the day on the field, Ivan Lopez-Testillano jumped 14.09m to take 1st place overall. Wynn jumped 12.80m, earning him a 5th place finish.

Competing in Heptathlon
Throughout the two days, three Cardinals competed in the heptathlon. Josiah Bowers took 5th overall. His best performance came from the 1000m, where he ran 3:02.78 to take 3rd. Maxwell Blowers took 7th overall. His best performance came from the pole vault, where he jumped 3.10m to take 4th. Zach Piper finished 8th overall. His best performance came from the 1000m, where he ran 3:04.12 to take 4th.

Next up for the Cardinals is the AARTFC Indoor Championship. The Championship will take place on Friday, Mar. 3., and Saturday, Mar. 4., taking place at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.
