PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher Men's Track and Field team traveled to Nazareth to compete in day one of the Empire 8 Championship. The meet took place on Friday and was hosted by Nazareth College. After day one, the Cardinals sit in 3
rd overall.
On the Track
The meet started out with
Myles Andersen finishing 4
th in the mile with a time of 4:35.71. Tony DiRubbo placed 7
th, running 4:45.01. Not far behind, was
Reid Hooker, running 4:47.02 to place 9
th.
The opening round of the 60m hurdles saw
John Ruggio place 4
th with a time of 8.82.
Trenton Wynn was not far behind, running 8.85 to place 5
th, both athletes advancing to the final.
The opening round of the 60m saw
Curtis Cuvilly place 1
st with a time of 7.10. Wynn took 7
th, running 7.25. Nearly identical,
Brady Bishop ran 7.25, taking 8
th with all three athletes advancing to the finals.
In the 400m,
Cole Ferris finished 4
th overall, running 51.17. Bishop had a strong race, running 51.77 to take 7
th.
In the 5000m,
Ethan Billings ran 16:10.16, finishing 4
th overall.
The Cardinals ended the night with the distance medley relay. The team of
Jason Kincaid, Luke Defio,
Peter Briggs, and
Riley Nash took 3
rd overall, running 11:04.95.
On the Field
Ending the night for the Cardinals,
Matthew Stasiw took 1
st in the long jump, jumping 7.09m.
Bryant DePaull secured a 6
th place finish with a mark of 6.33m.
Next up for the Cardinals is Day Two of the Empire 8 Championship. The Championship will be hosted by Nazareth College and will take place on Saturday, Feb 25 with events beginning at 10a.m.
