CLINTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team were on the road on Saturday to take on Hamilton College. Despite an impressive double-double by Daniel, the Cardinals were unable to secure the victory and fell by a final score of 84-77.
The first-half was closely contested throughout. The largest lead was by the Continentals with 11 minutes to play when they were in front 25-19, but layups by Cook and a three by
Akinlana Popoola negated that deficit and evened the score. Neither team gave up ground, but it was Hamilton that held the advantage at the break, 38-35.
As the second-half proceeded Fisher was down as many as ten points with seven minutes to go, but they began their comeback with a scores by Cook,
Brendan McRoy and
Connor Recore to cut the score to 67-63. With 2:27 on the clock Recore knocked down a pair of free-throws to cut the deficit to just one point. The Cardinals were unable to complete the comeback and fell by a final of 84-77.
Cook led the way with 30 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four steals and five assists.
Jack Foley and Recore added 11 points each.
The Cardinals don't get their break just yet, they will head to Indiana to compete in the Rose-Hulman round robin on Sunday Dec. 17. Fisher will take on the Fightin' Engineers at 3 p.m.
