Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cardinals Knock Off Russell Sage, 78-64

ALBANY, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball earned their second win of the weekend, defeating Russell Sage College on the road 78-64. The Cardinals used a strong second half to take control of the game and secure the victory.

Fisher started out fast, jumping out to a 16-4 advantage. The Gators fought back and reclaimed the lead at 28-27 with under five minutes to play. After a Daniel Cook layup, the Cardinals did not let up their advantage the remainder of the half and took a 36-34 lead into the break.

Sage quickly evened the score out of the break, but Fisher kicked it into gear, going on a 13-1 run to claim a 49-37 lead. The Gators cut their deficit back to single digits with five minutes to play, but a pair of free-throws by Jack Foley and layup by Connor Recore helped stop the runs and keep the Cardinals in front by double-digits. Fisher held on the rest of the way to secure the 78-64 win.

Cook recorded a 23 point, 11 rebound double-double, while adding two steals and two assists. Recore added 14 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Brendan McRoy finished with double-digit scoring, securing 13 points to go along with three assists.

Up next for Fisher is a trip to Hamilton College on Saturday, Dec. 9 for a 3 p.m. matchup.
