PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team faced off against Ithaca College on Tuesday. The two teams were receiving votes in the latest polls, but it was the Bombers that got the best of the Cardinals, winning 69-55.
The Cardinals kept pace with the Bombers in the first half, eliminating an early eight-point deficit to finish the first quarter tied at 13, and the score remained tied after a back-and-forth second quarter to send the teams into halftime tied at 31.
Ithaca pulled ahead in the second half, outscoring Fisher 38-24 in the final 20 minutes of the game. The defeat is the Cardinals' first home loss of the season and their first on Bobby Wanzer Court in over a year (Nov. 22, 2022 vs. Hamilton College).
Freshman forward
Joleen Lusk led Fisher with 15 points and also had two blocks, seven rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Junior guard
Sidney Tomasso had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Senior guard
Claire Kruszka also had 10 points on the night.
Fisher will look to get back into the win column on Friday, Dec. 1, when they travel to Oneonta to face conference rival Hartwick in the first game of Empire 8 play. Tip-off is set for 5:30 P.M.
