PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team won its home opener on Tuesday against Penn State-Behrend, 76-61.
The Cardinals, now 3-1, never trailed in the contest, taking the lead on a jumper by freshman forward
Joleen Lusk in the first minute of the game and then pulling further ahead to end the first quarter up 24-15.
Although the Lions cut the Fisher lead to as low as three in the second quarter, the Cardinals put the game out of reach by outscoring Behrend 38-28 in the second half.
Lusk led all Cardinals with 22 points and added 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals on the day. Junior guard
Sidney Tomasso had 13 points and nine rebounds, making three steals. Sophomore
Presleigh Brunner and junior
Katie Moravec both had 10 points.
The Cardinals out-shot the Lions in every category and out rebounded Behrend as well, 41-29.
Fisher returns to action after the Thanksgiving break with a home game against Ithaca on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 P.M.
