ONEONTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team tied with Empire 8 rival Hartwick University on Saturday, 2-2.
The Cardinals outshot Hartwick, 16-13, and led 2-1 heading into the final minutes when the Hawks equalized it on a Myah Johnson goal at the 87:39 mark.
Graduate student Jenn Kirker opened scoring for Fisher in the 54th minute, netting a goal with an assist by senior Kayla Rhude.
After an equalizer later in the game by Hartwick, junior Kate Rachwal put the Cardinals ahead again, 2-1, with a goal in the 66th minute. The score, her first of the 2023 season, was assisted by fellow junior Emma Spelman.
Sophomore Avery Byrnes made six saves on the day.
The Cardinals, now 5-3-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play, travel down the road to face arch-rival Nazareth on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
