Grieb Ties Single-Game Points Record In Field Hockey Win Over Utica, 6-1

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Three goals in the third quarter propelled the St. John Fisher University field hockey team over Empire 8 foe Utica on Saturday, 6-1.

The home win moves the Cardinals to 3-0 in conference play, and it was led by junior Audrey Grieb, who notched four goals and two assists on the day for 10 total points- a career high that is tied the record for points in a single game in program history. Fellow junior Molly Fisher had an assist.

Grieb opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the first quarter and then it was all quiet until the end of the half. The Cardinals added to the scoring thanks to Lilly Humphrey in the 25th minute. Going into the half, Fisher held a 2-0 lead. The half time adjustments came into effect in the final minutes of the third quarter. Grieb scored again the 41st minute of the game, before recording her third goal on a Emma Cooper assist- one of two on the day for Cooper. Anna Melfi added the team's fifth goal of the afternoon in the final seconds of the frame. Grieb scored her fourth and final in the 50th minute.

Senior Sophia Trozzi made 11 saves on the day while allowing just one goal, with sophomore Haley Acevedo and senior Rileigh Luste helping on defense with a defensive save each.

The Cardinals return to the field on Wednesday, October 11, when they host the University of Rochester at Growney Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
