ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's volleyball team were on the road on Wednesday for a meeting with cross-town rival, Nazareth University. The Cardinals made quick work of the Golden Flyers, sweeping the opposition 3-0 on their way to an 8-8 overall record and 3-0 in conference play.
Fisher fell behind 4-0 to start the match but settled into their groove and rallied off seven unanswered points to claim control. Another run of five straight points gave the team a lead that they used to cruise to a 25-17 set victory. Naz once again jumped in front in the second frame and maintained the lead until Fisher turned it on down 10-7. Kills by

Delayne Young were catalysts to a 5-0 run that gave the team a 12-10 lead. Points by
Ana Gutman and
Reilly Morrow began an 8-0 run that the Golden Flyers were unable to overcome and Fisher claimed the second set, 25-15. In the third frame, it was the Cardinals that came out hot, jumping out to an 8-1 advantage and cruised to a 25-16 set and match win.
Noble led the way with 10 kills, three service aces and eight digs. Gutman was second on the team in kills with nine on a .333 hitting percentage, which was highest on the team (min. 10 attacks). Young and
Kiera Hartpence each contributed 12 digs and Hartpence led the way with four aces.
The Cardinals will return home for a single match on Friday, Oct. 6 against Buffalo State. The contest is set to start at 6 p.m.
