HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's tennis team competed in the Empire 8 Championship game on Saturday against Alfred University. The Cardinals were unable to overcome an early deficit and fell to the Saxons, 5-3.
The day started with the Cardinals dropped two double matches before the combination of
Madison Galvin and
Lily Miller defeated the opposition, 8-5 to put the team on the board. Miller continued to help the team by winning her singles match 6-3, 6-0 to even the score.
Lilly Renzi then won 6-3, 6-2 to put the team ahead, but the Saxons were able to secure three victories in straight sets to secure the Championship.
