Men’s Track and Field Travel to Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher Men's Track and Field team traveled to Ocean Breeze, Staten Island, N.Y. to compete in the Spartan Invitational. The meet took place on Friday and was hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Coach Henchen had this to say, regarding the men's performances, "The men also returned from break ready to make their mark on the E8 leaderboard with 16 new or improved performances".

In the 3000m run, Ethan Billings claimed 12th place with a season-best of 8:58.69. Not far behind, was Bogdan Rozvora, finishing 18th in a time of 9:15.35. Nick Ferri crossed the line in 9:23.37 to qualify for the Empire 8 Championships.

The 400m run saw Cole Ferris finish 13th in a time of 52.01, a qualifying Empire 8 Championships time. Coach Henchen was impressed with the freshman's performance, "Freshman Cole Ferris had an outstanding day, setting PRs in both the 200 and 400. He now sits on top of the E8 qualifying leaderboard in the 200," he said. Brady Bishop (53.23), who had personal bests in both the 200 and 400, and Rob Hartigan (54.17) also ran qualifying times.

"Myles Andersen turned in a terrific early season 2:02 time in the 800", stated Coach Henchen. Tony DiRubbo (2:06.16) and Peter Briggs (2:07.71) also ran qualifying times.

In the 200m, Brady Bishop ran an Empire 8 qualifying time with a time of 23.32. Ferris (23.60) and Trenton Wynn (23.90) also ran qualifying times.

In the shot-put Daniel Stephens threw 10.23m to qualify for the Empire 8 Championships. "The men's shot also saw a solid ½ meter PR with freshman Joey Kurr putting the shot 10.17", stated Coach Henchen.

The long jump saw Josiah Bowers jump 5.78m and Maxwell Blowers jump 5.63m to both claim qualifying marks for the Empire 8 Championships.

In the men's high jump, Bryant DePaull and Sean Cochrane both tied for 5th place with jumps of 1.88m, "in a meet of great D1/D2 athletes", stated Coach Henchen.

"In the men's weight throw freshman Brandon Kaplan has a fantastic day with a huge 14.15 meter PR in the weight. He now sits as the top freshman on the E8 leaderboard" Coach Henchen had to say. Jac Bickfor also had a great season PR of 13.6 meters. Keegan Reyome also threw an Empire 8 qualifying mark of 11.18m. Bryce Grove was not too far behind, also qualifying with a throw of 10.65m.
