Cardinals Battle Knights On The Road

GENESEO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team were on the road on Saturday, taking on SUNY Geneseo in their second game of the season. It was a close and competitive game with one goal separating the two teams, unfortunately Fisher was on the wrong end of the result, losing 1-0. The Cardinals now sit at 0-2, while the Knights get to .500 at 1-1.

Fisher had a couple of opportunities in the final two minutes of the first half when both Reese Powers and Greg Ranieri had shot opportunities. Ranieri forced a good save by the goalkeeper, making him dive to the bottom right of his net to stop the goal. Geneseo's goal came in the 24th minute and it proved to be the winning score. Tim Brown and Stephen Guidi both had shot attempts in the second half, but were unable to reach the back of the net. Brown had his shot go wide left, and Guidi took his over the cross bar.

Fisher will play their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. They will host SUNY Brockport at Growney Stadium.
