Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Host Brockport In Home Opener

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team hosted SUNY Brockport for their home opener. It was a competitive game with both teams having tough chances, but in the end it was a 0-0 draw. With this result, Fisher moves too 0-2-1, while the Golden Eagles sit at 0-0-3.

The first half was closely contested. Jadon Schlierf faced eight shots and made saves on the ones on-target. The defense made it difficult for the Brockport attackers, never letting them see open chances. On offense Jackson Bishop had two of the team's shots and one was on goal and forced the opposing goalie to make a leaping punch to prevent it from scoring. After battling for 45 minutes, the two teams were tied 0-0.

In the second frame, it was a battle of defenses and midfield as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Schlierf made easy work of the two shots on target he saw, and on the offensive end, Brennan Brown took a shot in the 61st minute that was blocked by the Brockport defense. As the clock hit zero, the teams settled for a draw.

Up next for the Cardinals is a home game under the lights on Friday! They will host Ithaca College on Sept. 9 at Growney Stadium at 7 p.m. The Bombers will enter the game with a n 0-1-1 record on the year.
