ONEONTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team went on the road on Saturday and traveled to Hartwick College for an afternoon battle. The Cardinals registered a couple of goals, but walked away with a 7-2 loss against the Hawks. Fisher now hold a record of 0-5, 0-1 in conference, while Hartwick shift to 2-3 and 1-0 in conference.
Fisher fell behind early in the game, but
Sam Choate attempted to ignite the team at the end of the first quarter. After a pass from
Audrey Grieb on the penalty corner, Choate knocked in her first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1 through one quarter. The second goal for the Cardinals game in the final minutes of the game. Grieb once again had an assist, as
Emma Cooper tipped in her second goal of the season in the 44th minute.
Cooper and
Molly Fisher each finished with two shots on goal.
Sophia Trozzi was in net for the full 45 minutes and totaled nine saves.
Fisher will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for a 4 p.m. battle against Keuka College. It will be the team's second Empire 8 game of the season.
