PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team hosted the University of Rochester on Wednesday and through 90 minutes of action, neither team got on the score board. With a 0-0 draw in the books, the Cardinals remain undefeated with a 2-0-2 record and the Yellow Jackets are also undefeated at 3-0-2.
Fisher totaled four shots on the game and limited the opposition to just five shots on goal. Jacqueline Gervais had a good look in the first quarter, but her shot was high over the cross bar. As the half concluded,
Grace Wolsieffer took a chance that forced a save by the Rochester goalie. In the second half, the Cardinals saw some of their best chances 15 minutes in. Wolsieffer once again took a chance with a shot outside of the box and it was just high of the goal.
Tori Cruz then fired a shot off of a short corner kick pass and it went wide right, just barely missing the post.
Avery Byrnes was in goal and faced a lot of shots, but she read them well. She totaled five saves and was crucial in facilitating the defense.
Up next for the Cardinals is another home game on Saturday, September 17. SUNY Fredonia will come to town for a 2 p.m. game at Growney Stadium.
