Field Hockey Take On Knights In Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team were on the road on Wednesday, traveling to SUNY Geneseo to compete against the Knights. The Cardinals fell to the Knights by a final of 6-2 and drop to 0-4 on the season. Geneseo now hold a mark of 3-2.

Both teams opened the scoring early in the game. Fisher tied the match in the fifth minute with Audrey Grieb converting a well-placed pass by Emma Cooper. In the second quarter, Molly Fisher knocked in the team's second goal with Gianna Palma assisting. Grieb, Cooper and Palma all had chances in the second half to cut into the deficit or equalize, but the opposition goalie did her job and saved the attempts.

The Cardinals totaled 10 shots, seven of which were on target. Sophia Trozzi recorded three saves, before Senja Matson checked into the game. Matson recorded seven saves in 23:07 minutes of action.

Fisher is right back at it on Saturday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Hartwick College. The teams will face-off at 3 p.m. in Oneonta, N.Y. and it will be the Cardinals first Empire 8 game of the season.
