ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team saw its conference record evened on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to Nazareth College, 7-2, at the Golisano Training Center. With the defeat, Fisher slipped to 3-6 on the year and 1-1 in the Empire 8 while the Golden Flyers improved to 5-3, 1-1, respectively.
After falling at first and third doubles, the Cardinals managed to salvage a point in the second flight as
Jake Anthony and
Sean Danahy came out on top, 8-5.
Leading 2-1 with six individual matches to be played, Nazareth squeezed out a win at first singles over Danahy, 2-6, 6-7 (3-7) while
Jordan O'Connell fell at sixth singles in three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 5-10. The team's lone win came at fifth singles as Anthony posted a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
Fisher will return to the court at 4 p.m. on Friday as it hosts Houghton College at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
