HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker to Messiah University on Tuesday as the Cardinals fell to the Falcons, 5-4, on the second day of their annual spring trip in Hilton Head, S.C. With the loss, Fisher evened its season record at 6-6 while the Falcons improved to 1-4.
Despite falling at first and third doubles, Fisher was able to cut the deficit to one heading into singles play after
Madison Galvin and
Jacqueline Chouinard posted a tightly-contested 8-7 win at second doubles.
Trailing 2-1 in the match,
Kathryn Strait evened the score after pulling out a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win at first singles before Galvin followed suit with a 6-2, 6-4 win at third singles. Chouinard collected her second win of the afternoon with a 7-6, 6-4, win at fourth singles.
The Cardinals will look for their seventh win of the year at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when they battle Roanoke in Hilton Head.
