BUFFALO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team took advantage of a unique opportunity on Tuesday as the Cardinals traveled to Division I University at Buffalo to compete against the Bulls in an exhibition. Fisher fell to UB by a final score of 91-53.
Brandon Trapper was the first point scorer for Fisher, hitting a three-pointer off a
Sean Williams assist.
Jack Foley knocked down a three at the 15:26 mark before
Brendan McRoy checked into the game and hit a mid-range jump shot to join in on the scoring. With 13:38 to play, Williams made a three to cut the team's deficit to 15-11. Transition baskets by
Daniel Cook and Trapper helped keep the team in the game. Cook ended the half with a mid-range hook shot to cut the score to 51-26 at the break.
As the second half began, Trapper had the opening two buckets for the Cardinals, finishing layups on assists by Williams and Foley. After a
Connor Recore steal, Cook knocked down a three with 12:06 to play.
Brad Fowler joined the scoring with a pair of free-throws with eight minutes to go in the game.
Cole Thompson and
Matt Lettko each added a layup down the stretch.
Andrew Recco scored the final basket of the game for the Cardinals, as the game ended 91-53 in favor of the Bulls.
Trapper ended the day with 15 points, three assists and two rebounds. Cook added 12 points of his own and collected four rebounds and dished out two assists.
Up next for the Cardinals is a road tournament at Medgar Evers College. Fisher will take on Misericordia University on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 4:30 p.m. to kick off the event.
