ONEONTA, NY – The St. John Fisher University men's soccer team was on the road on Saturday for a conference match up against Hartwick College. The Cardinals took care of business, defeating the Hawks 2-1 for their third straight conference victory. Fisher now holds a record of 5-4-2 and 4-1 in Empire 8 conference play. Hartwick falls to 3-8-2 and 1-4-1 in E8 games.
 
The Cardinals first shot came off the head of Jacob McGinnis after a corner kick by Justin Bonetto and it forced a save by the Hawks goalie. In the 23rd minute, Ben Woolingham was able to convert an opportunity in order to give the team a 1-0 advantage. The only other shot for Fisher was in the 39th minute, as Nik Linder's attempt went high.
 
Ten minutes into the second half, the Cardinals got on the board again with Woolingham connecting for his second goal of the afternoon. Brennan Brown chipped in a pass that Woolingham was able to one time into the back of the net. Fisher had a few more opportunities throughout the second half, with shots by Bonetto and Riley Rease both forcing saves. The Hawks knocked in their only goal of the day in the 81st minute, but the Cardinals were able to hold onto the victory.
 
Up next for Fisher is another Empire 8 matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 19 as they host Houghton University at Growney Stadium. The contest is set for a 4 p.m. kick off.
