PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team were at home on Saturday, welcoming SUNY Cortland to Growney Stadium. After a battle, the Cardinals fell by a final score of 4-0. The Cardinals now hold a record of 5-9, while the Red Dragons stand at 9-3 on the year.
Audrey Grieb took the team's first shot of the day at the 9:40 mark, shooting just wide of the goal.
Taylor Scrocca also had an opportunity in the first half to get the Cardinals on the board, but came up just short. In the 50th minute, Grieb took a corner that gave
Gianna Palma an opportunity to give Fisher a tally, but it went wide. The Cardinals took three penalty corners in the second half, but were not able to capitalize.
Sophia Trozzi was in goal for Fisher and tallied five saves on the day. The Cardinals played strong defense to finish out the game.
Up next for the team is an Empire 8 match up, home on Wednesday, October 19th against Elmira College. The game is set to start at 7 P.M. at Growney Stadium
