PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team made its season debut on Saturday as the Cardinals were blanked by Rochester Institute of Technology, 9-0, in a non-conference match inside Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the defeat, Fisher fell to 0-1 on the year while the Tigers finished the day at 1-0.
In doubles play,
Jordan O'Connell and
Kyle Gorman were upended 8-3 while
Sean Danahy and
Cameron Campbell fell, 8-2.
Anthony Molosag and
Jon Sutherland were defeated at third doubles by a score of 8-1.
In singles play, Danahy challenged in the first set before falling, 7-5, 6-0. Gorman, Campbell, Molosag, O'Connell and
Andrew Cegielski were each defeated in their respective flights.
The Cardinals will return to action at 3:30 p.m. on Friday when they host Houghton College in the team's Empire 8 debut at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
