PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team was handed a 6-3 loss against East Avenue rival Nazareth College on Wednesday afternoon in an Empire 8 bout inside Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the defeat, Fisher fell to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play while the Golden Flyers improved to 6-1 on both fronts.
After narrowly falling at first doubles, Fisher earned a point in the second doubles flight as
Sean Danahy and
Cameron Campbell held on for an 8-7 decision.
Anthony Molosag and
Jon Sutherland put up a fight at third doubles before falling, 8-5.
In singles play, Campbell earned his second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at third singles while
Jordan O'Connell overcame a first-set defeat to win in three behind 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 decisions.
The Cardinals will celebrate their senior class at 4 p.m. on Friday when they host Alfred University in another Empire 8 match inside the dome at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
