PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team earned its second victory in as many days as the Cardinals blanked visiting Utica College, 9-0, in an Empire 8 pairing inside Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the win, Fisher improved to 2-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Empire 8 while the Pioneers slipped to 0-3 overall and in the conference standings.
The Cardinals earned all three points in doubles play with
Kyle Gorman and
Jordan O'Connell posting an 8-5 decision at first doubles before
Sean Danahy and
Cameron Campbell came away with an 8-3 win at second doubles.
Jon Sutherland and
Anthony Molosag did not drop a game in an 8-0 win at third doubles.
The result was the same in singles play with Fisher winning all six flights. Danahy came out ahead in first singles with a 6-0, 6-1 effort before Gorman posted a 6-1, 6-3 win at second singles. Campbell posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles while O'Connell dominated at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-1. Molosag earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at fifth singles before
Andrew Cegielski closed out sixth flight with a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing.
Fisher will go for its third straight win at 1 p.m. next Saturday at Houghton College.
