Women's Basketball Welcomes Keuka to Empire 8 With a 95-36 Drubbing

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team welcomed Keuka to the Empire 8 Conference on Sunday with a 95-36 drubbing inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court.  With the win, the Cardinals improved to 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in the conference standings while the Wolves fell to 0-2 overall and in Empire 8 play.

After jumping out to a 15-9 lead with nearly eight minutes having ticked away in the opening quarter, Fisher pushed the pace and rattled off seven of the frame's next 10 points to hold a 22-9 edge at the end of the opening period.

Leading by 13 points to begin the second stanza, Fisher continued to apply the pressure and extended its lead to 21 points courtesy of a 12-4 run with Hannah Morse and Miranda Lynch combining to score seven to bring it to 34-14.

As the quarter wore on, Fisher's lead would grow to as many as 25 points before a final-second 3-pointer by Keuka made it 40-18 at the break.

Coming out of the break, the Cardinals continued to pour it on after going 5-of-8 over a four-minute stretch to build a 34-point cushion following a 15-3 run.  At the end of the third, Fisher held a 41-point advantage and would see its lead grow throughout the fourth until the final horn sounded.

Kaitlyn Walker led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds while Anna Milham scored a career-high 15 points off the bench. Lauren Nawojski finished with a career-high 12 points in 14 minutes while Lynch added nine points and five rebounds.  Morse stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, four assists, four steals and two assists. Lauren Robbins netted seven points for head coach Melissa Kuberka's squad.

Overall, Fisher's bench produced 48 points and came away with 32 points off of turnovers. The team scored 52 points in the paint and had 24 second chance points in all.

Collectively, Fisher was 37-for-72 from the floor and had a season-high 24 assists. The Cardinals forced Keuka into 27 turnovers resulting in 16 steals and out-rebounded their opponent, 55-26.

The Cardinals will look to make it four wins in a row at 5 p.m. on Wednesday when they take on the University of Rochester inside Blue Cross Arena. The two teams battled it out on Wednesday with Fisher earning a 71-66 decision.
