ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team suffered its first setback of the 2020-21 season as the Cardinals fell to the University of Rochester, 57-45, in a non-conference bout inside Blue Cross Arena. With the defeat, the Cardinals fell to 3-1 on the year while the Yellowjackets improved to 3-1.

After falling behind by as many as 14 points in the first quarter, Fisher found its rhythm and bridged the first and second periods with a 15-2 run that included eight unanswered points to pull the Cardinals to within one, 21-20. As the first half wore on, Fisher continued to work its offense and closed out the second stanza on another run, this time 10-2 burst to take a 30-26 advantage into the break.
Fisher's lead would grow to as many as seven points in the third quarter, but the Yellowjackets would score 12 unanswered points to open up a 44-39 margin. Both teams would exchange points midway through the fourth, but Rochester used three 3-pointers to produce an 11-2 run that pushed the lead to double digits, 50-40, with just under four minutes remaining in the contest.
Fisher would cut the gap to eight points as

Fisher will look to get back to its winning ways at 7 p.m. on Friday when it hosts Russell Sage in an Empire 8 clash inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court.
