PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team moved one step closer to clinching an Empire 8 Regular Season Championship on Friday as the Cardinals remained perfect on the year behind an 8-1 win over Alfred University at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club. With the win, Fisher improved to 5-0 on the year and in the Empire 8 standings while the Saxons fell to 0-4 on both fronts.
Fisher benefited from having earned five points by forfeit in the match as Alfred was only able to field three players in the match. The Cardinals took first singles as
Kathryn Strait won, 6-0, 6-3, before
Valerie Morgans posted a win at second singles, 6-3, 6-3.
Fisher earned its eighth and final point at first doubles as

Up next, the Cardinals will take on the undefeated Nazareth College Golden Flyers at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club with the winner earning the top overall seed in next week's Empire 8 Championship.
